Titans pick Mike Borgonzi, not the Bears' Ian Cunningham, as GM

The Titans picked Chiefs executive Mike Borgonzi as their next general manager Friday.

That means that Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham won’t get the job. Twice in the past three years, he’s been a finalist for the Titans’ GM job. Bears GM Ryan Poles said last week that Cunningham wouldn’t participate in the team’s head coaching search so long as he was interviewing for outside GM jobs, but was welcome to if he failed to land one.

Had Cunningham gotten the job, the Bears would have received compensatory third-round draft picks in each of the next two years as part of the NFL’s policy meant to encourage the development of minority executives and head coaches.
