LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Time is running out for Pernell McPhee to knock the rust off before the Chicago Bears’ season opener on Sept. 11.
McPhee, relegated to side work again on Monday, is still on the physically unable to perform list following offseason knee surgery.
The Bears have never revealed the true extent of McPhee’s knee issues, but teammate Willie Young said Monday McPhee is attempting to overcome a knee condition that used to be career-ending.
"It’s been a grind since his first day out, busting his tail," Young said of McPhee’s rehab.
