Three key takeaways from the Bears’ home opener:
• Finishing strong. Chase Daniel wasn’t good in his first half of work, taking three sacks and letting a shotgun snap go past him and all the way out the back of the end zone for a safety. On the final drive of the half, though, he completed 6-of-7 passes for 43 yards. Prior to that, he was 6-for-11 for 40 yards.
• White lightning. The night’s most impressive play didn’t count. Seventh-round rookie Kerrith Whyte fielded a kickoff three yards deep into the end zone, ran over the left numbers, cut across to the right and blazed into the end zone.
