As first reported by the Chicago Tribune’s Rich Campbell, the Chicago Bears are going to tender restricted free agent cornerback Bryce Callahan at the right of first refusal. This means if Callahan signs with another team the Bears will have the opportunity to match the offer and keep him. But if they elect to let him leave they will receive no draft pick compensation.
Teams have until April 20 to negotiate with Callahan, and if he signs the Bears have five days to match the offer. After April 20, the Bears have exclusive rights to negotiate a long term contract with him.
