The Caleb Williams-Rome Odunze connection takes a big step

A two-play sequence in a dire moment of the Bears’ ill-fated rally against the Packers on Sunday highlighted Caleb Williams’ growing connection with fellow rookie Rome Odunze. On the first play he found Odunze. On the critical one, he looked for him.

It was arguably the best example of why Bears general manager Ryan Poles drafted Odunze with the No. 9 overall pick instead of fortifying the offensive line or another position of greater need — even though he already had veterans Keenan Allen and DJ Moore on his roster.
