According to Dave Birkett, of the Detroit Free Press, then confirmed by Rich Campbell, of the Chicago Sun Times, the Chicago Bears have re-signed wire receiver/kick returner Deonte Thompson.
The 28 year old Thompson set career highs in kick returns (35), kick return yardage (804), receptions (22), receiving yards (249) and receiving touchdowns (2) in 2016 with the Bears. For those of you that didn’t realize the Bears had a league leader, Thompson’s 35 kick returns led the NFL.
All but 1 catch and 4 receiving yards off his total came from week 10 on, when he was pressed into action because of a shortage of wide receivers on the Bears’ active roster.
