LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Bears’ lethargic start against Washington did not sit well with Pernell McPhee.
“If I would have been out there, that wouldn’t have happened,” McPhee said on Thursday.
Inactive due to a lingering knee injury, McPhee was forced to watch from the sidelines as the Redskins scored 14 points and converted 12 first downs on their opening two drives.
McPhee said he attempted to motivate his teammates from the bench, but there is only so much a player can do in street clothes.
“That’s the hard part of the game,” McPhee said.
