At this time last year, The Athletic was just an idea. Then, in late January, it was suddenly a real thing, a new twist on an old idea. Now, as 2016 ends and 2017 begins, The Athletic is already an established, trusted part of Chicago sports journalism landscape.

After our initial success, we launched The Athletic Toronto this fall. We also have a Golden State Warriors’ offshoot in the Bay Area. There is more to come as we will expand our idea, smart, local sportswriting at a reasonable cost, to new markets in 2017.
