The Bears went local for their first pick of the 2020 NFL draft, selecting Notre Dame tight end and St. Viator alum Cole Kmet with the No. 43 overall pick.
The 6-foot-6, 262-pound Kmet is a sizable tight end prospect who finished the 2019 season with 43 catches, 515 yards and 6 touchdowns. While the value at which the Bears selected him was admittedly questionable, he projects as a good complement for Jimmy Graham—serving as a ‘Y’ tight end as opposed to Graham being a ‘U’—and can develop into a solid starter down the line.
