Morning Update: Cubs win, White Sox lose; Bears injuries pile up

Win or lose, Jon Lester is always a straight shooter during his postgame press conferences, never sugarcoating his performance, the responsibilities that comes with his $155 million contract or those World Series-or-else expectations surrounding the Cubs.

When asked about the National League Cy Young Award race after Tuesday night’s 6-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field, Lester endorsed teammate Kyle Hendricks.

“Kyle’s had an unbelievable year,” Lester said. “If I had a vote, he’d be my vote. Just because I get to see him every day. I see what he does. I see how he goes about it, how he prepares and how he executes.
