It was a relentless offensive onslaught from the get-go for Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky this past Sunday against the Buccaneers, and he’s been appropriately recognized for his efforts.
After going 19-of-26 for 354 yards, six touchdowns, including five in the first half (a Bears’ record), and enjoying a 154.6 passer rating, Trubisky has been named the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week for Week 4. He also added 53 yards on the ground on three carries. A well-deserved honor for the 24-year-old second-year quarterback all things considered.
Trubisky’s long-awaited first breakout performance beat out Los Angeles Rams third-year star Jared Goff’s five passing touchdowns and 465 yards against the Vikings, as well as the Colts’ Andrew Luck’s 464 yards and four scores inflicted on the Texans.
