Matt Forte calls Bears' lack of interest 'hard pill to swallow'

Matt Forte told New York reporters on Monday that he’s still surprised the Chicago Bears failed to make even a cursory offer to him prior to the onset of free agency.

Forte -- the second-most productive running back in Bears franchise history -- signed a three-year, $12 million contract with the New York Jets that included $9 million in guarantees. The Bears announced in mid-February they had no intention of extending Forte’s contract.

“[I wasn’t] really blindsided, but surprised I didn’t receive an offer from them,” Forte said on a conference with the Jets media.
