The Velus Jones experiment is officially over.
One day after Jones cleared waivers, the Jaguars signed the former Bears receiver-turned-running-back to their practice squad Tuesday. The Jaguars listed him as a receiver.
Jones fumbled a kickoff in Week 1 and wasn’t on the Bears’ game day roster for any game since.
In the middle of training camp, they moved Jones from receiver to try to salvage some value out of their former third-round pick, who had just 11 catches for 127 yards in two seasons as a receiver. He played well enough to make the team — general manager Ryan Poles even rebuffed a trade offer that would have landed him a late-round draft pick for him.
