Jaguars rule out James Robinson, league’s third-leading rusher

Jaguars running back, who ranks third in the NFL with 1,070 rushing yards this season, won’t play Sunday against the Bears, the team said Saturday.

Robinson, a rookie from Illinois State, hurt his ankle during last week’s game. He didn’t practice all week, but coach Doug Marrone said Robinson was probably going to lobby to play.

Robinson’s 76.4 rushing yards per game ranks fifth in the NFL, behind the Titans’ Derrick Henry, the Vikings’ Dalvin Cook, the Browns’ Nick Chubb and the Packers’ Aaron Jones.

Marrone talked this week about how impressed he was by the undrafted rookie maybe 12 or 15 days into training camp.
