This past Thursday, the Chicago Bears took the field for their first preseason game of 2019. Unfortunately, the Bears were on the losing end of a 23-13 contest against the Carolina Panthers. However, in this defeat, all was not negative.
All eyes were on rookie running back David Montgomery once he set foot on the field. In limited action, the third-round draft pick didn’t disappoint. Montgomery showed exactly why general manager Ryan Pace moved up in the draft to select him 73rd overall. On the evening, the Iowa State product gained 16 rushing yards on three carries, which included an impressive shifty seven-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
