Five miles from Halas Hall, where he spent six seasons with the Chicago Bears, retired defensive back Nate Vasher still spends his afternoons and evenings on the football field.
Vasher may be in the same zip code, but he’s in a different place than he was in 2006, when he played in Super Bowl XLI for the Bears. Instead he’s chasing a new dream, serving as an assistant coach for the Lake Forest High School football team, which is 2-0 so far this season.
“I’ve always enjoyed working with young people,” Vasher said. “I felt like this was the perfect opportunity to continue to keep doing that and continue to keep coaching.
