Exactly five years ago this weekend, the Chicago Bears suffered one of the most excruciating defeats in franchise history at the hands of their archrival.
Fresh off a divisional playoff win over the Seattle Seahawks, the Bears lost the NFC Championship Game 21-14 to the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field on Jan. 23, 2011.
After falling behind 21-7 in the fourth quarter, the Bears made a game of it when third-string quarterback Caleb Hanie hit Earl Bennett for a 35-yard touchdown. But Hanie's second interception of the game on the Bears' ensuing possession sealed the Bears' fate as the eventual champion Packers advanced to Super Bowl XLV in Dallas.
