MIAMI — Thirteen years later, Robbie Gould is back at the Super Bowl.
And it’s in Miami, just like the Bears’ game against the Colts in Super Bowl XL.
To get ready, the 49ers kicker went back and watched the Bears-Colts game. He was scouting his former special teams coach, Dave Toub, who now oversees specialists for the Chiefs.
“It’s funny,” the former Bears kicker said at the NFL’s “Opening Night” on Monday at Marlins Park. “Because it was so long ago that the film’s grainy.”
There are similarities between the 49ers and the Bears team that won the NFC during the 2006 season, Gould said.
