Eddie Royal becomes 18th Bears' player on injured reserve

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears will shut down Eddie Royal (toe) effective immediately, wrapping up a disappointing two-year stretch for the veteran receiver in Chicago.

Head coach John Fox announced on Monday that Royal will be the 18th Bears' player placed on injured reserve in 2016.

After catching 62 passes for 778 yards and seven touchdowns for San Diego in 2014, Royal received a three-year contract from the Bears that included $10 million in guarantees.

But a variety of injuries limited Royal to only 18 appearances for Chicago, where he hauled in 70 receptions for 607 yards and three touchdowns.
