When digging into the 1972 Dolphins’ perfect season, it’s noted that perfection was never on anyone’s mind. In fact, former Dolphins safety Dick Anderson said they didn’t really discuss what they had accomplished until the 1985 Bears came close to matching their mark, but fell short.
“In our first meeting that summer,” Anderson said, “the first words out of Coach Shula’s mouth were, ‘I just want you to remember: Nobody ever remembers who finished second in the Super Bowl.
