The Chicago Bears wrapped up their first week of training camp practices and are still without linebacker Roquan Smith, who joins only Jets quarterback Sam Darnold as the two first-round holdouts.
There's been speculation from all corners of the football universe as to why there hasn't been a meeting of the minds, with the most common assumption being a deadlock over offset language.
Regardless of the 'why,' former Bears coach Dave Wannstedt suggested a selfish agenda is at play.
“It really doesn’t make much sense. For a rookie to hold out because of some fine print, it’s pretty selfish from an agent standpoint to do that," Wannstedt told reporters at training camp.
