Chiefs coach Andy Reid will return next year

NEW ORLEANS — The morning after owner Clark Hunt said he believed Andy Reid would continue coaching beyond Sunday’s Super Bowl, the Chiefs’ legendary head coach confirmed as much.

“Yes I’ll be back,” Reid said Tuesday. “I’m glad he’s going to have me back.”

Reid has 301 career wins, which ranks fourth in NFL history for regular season and playoff games combined. Another three or four strong seasons could push him past Don Shula, who has 347. Bears founder George Halas ranks third, with 324, while former Patriots coach Bill Belichick has 333.

Reid didn’t sound concerned about any such list when describing why he wanted to return.
