The Chicago Bears made a bit of a surprising move on Tuesday releasing wide receiver Tre McBride. The 24-year old receiver played in eight games for Chicago, starting three of those and totaling eight catches for 144 yards over those games. McBride’s best performance came against the New Orleans Saints where he had three grabs for 92 yards.
McBride’s playing time has been inconsistent all season, but he seemingly had emerged as the Bears’ third-best receiving option at wide receiver behind Kendall Wright and Dontrelle Inman, so his release is a bit of a surprise. Being the Bears third-best pass catcher at WR might sound like the less smelly option of the garbage, but it’s still what the Bears have to work with.
