Earlier today the Chicago Bears re-signed free agent Christian Jones to a one year contract. Originally an undrafted free agent in 2014, Jones gained experience playing outside linebacker in Mel Tucker’s 4-3 defense, starting 5 games, while appearing in all 16 as a rookie.
When the Bears changed coaches and defensive schemes in 2015, Jones was moved to inside linebacker in Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense, picking up 13 starts in 15 games. Last season, he was moved to outside linebacker, but he also saw playing time inside as well. He played in all 16 games in 2016, making 2 starts on D, while adding a career high 11 special teams tackles.
