With the hiring of Juan Castillo, the Chicago Bears have just two vacant jobs on the coaching staff. They need a tight ends coach, but more importantly, are still without an offensive coordinator.
Matt Nagy calls the plays, but the development of the play sheet and play sequencing throughout the week is what makes everything work. Nagy needs a reliable offensive coordinator to keep things in-line, and they did not feel Mark Helfferich did enough.
With that in mind, Matt Nagy is going to have full say on this decision. Ryan Pace will obviously have to sign off, but he trusts Nagy, and this is Nagy’s offense.
