Charlie Coyle stays upbeat despite exhaustive rehab, lost chance to play at home in Boston

BOSTON – So far at least, nobody has asked Charlie Coyle for a refund.

But there will be several disappointed friends and family members in Massachusetts on Monday when the Wild forward’s once-a-season trip to play his hometown Boston Bruins doesn’t come to fruition.

Typically when the East Weymouth, Mass., native plays at TD Garden, the Coyle clan charters buses for the 20-mile drive to see their favorite son.

But Coyle, sidelined since Oct. 12 with a broken right fibula, didn’t accompany the Wild to Boston on Sunday afternoon so he can continue his workouts and rehab while the team’s on the road the next four games.
