Calvin Pickard spent his entire summer promoting the Vegas Golden Knights.
Fresh off 50 games with the Colorado Avalanche, a .904 save percentage and a silver medal at the world championships, the backup goaltender was selected by the NHL's newest franchise in the expansion draft. After a quick flight to Las Vegas, he was thrust into a prominent position in the organization and tasked with helping on a publicity tour ahead of training camp.
Then, on Oct. 5 – NHL roster day – the Golden Knights placed the backup goaltender on waivers and traded him to the Maple Leafs.
