CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bears coach Matt Nagy won’t come out and say it, but it’s obvious from the way he talks that he feels more sure of new kicker Cairo Santos than he ever has of Eddy Pineiro.
Flash back to a year ago when Nagy eschewed some long field goals to go for it on fourth down. Now listen to what he says about Santos hitting a 55-yarder just before halftime of the Bears’ 23-16 win over the Panthers.
“From him being a kicker in Kansas City when I was there for those years... I always had a lot of confidence in him,” Nagy said.
