In my 13 years as a Bears fan, this was probably the most “mixed bag”-y game I’ve ever seen the Bears play.
On one hand, the offensive line looked like a new unit in both the run game and the pass game while newcomer Jaylon Johnson balled out in pass coverage, eventually creating the key interception that led to the Bears’ first Week 1 win since 2013. The running game averaged an impressive 5.3 yards per carry and the offense blitzed out 21 points when needed in an utterly wild 4th quarter flurry led by none other than QB Mitch Trubisky (with help from Anthony Miller).
