LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White will undergo surgery this week on his fractured left fibula, coach John Fox announced Monday.
"I think it's just the best medical treatment at this time, versus not [having surgery]," Fox said.
The procedure could take place as soon as Tuesday. Fox, however, stopped short of declaring White out for the rest of the year.
NFL teams are allowed to bring back one player off on injured reserve following a mandatory eight-week absence.
"I think time-wise, he would still have a shot to come back at some point this season," Fox said.
