The Bears on Saturday made a change at their long-snapper position, waiving Thomas Gafford and signing Patrick Scales.
Scales appeared in two regular-season games and two playoff contests with the Baltimore Ravens last season. The 6-4, 244-pounder entered the NFL in 2011 with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent from Utah State. He has also spent time with the Dolphins, Jets and Buccaneers.
Gafford signed with the Bears in March after spending his first seven NFL seasons with the Chiefs. He appeared in all 11 games this year.
