The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they’ve waived K Andy Phillips and signed rookie WR Alton Howard to a contract.
Phillips, 28, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Utah back in May. He stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract.
During his college career at Utah, Phillips converted 84 of 100 field goal attempts (84 percent) to go along with 175 of 176 extra point tries for a total of 427 points over the course of 51 games.
