SANTA CLARA, Calf. — The Bears’ first half Sunday was worse than anything Matt Eberflus’ team did in the first two quarters this season.
The Bears trailed the 49ers 24-0 at halftime after both their offense and defense was bludgeoned by a team that boasts only one more win than they do.
In his first game as interim coach, Thomas Brown’s offense has produced just one first down in five drives. In two of the four possessions, the Bears lost yards.
Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick, was sacked five times in the first half — four times on third down.
