The Bears said goodbye to their longest-tenured player Tuesday when they instead agreed to re-sign long snapper Scott Daly to a one-year contract, a source confirmed. Daly took over for veteran Patrick Scales last year after he underwent back surgery.

Scales had played for the Bears since 2015, joining the team midway through coach John Fox’s first season after a stint with the Ravens a year earlier. He played for the Bears ever since, save for two-day span in 2016 when he was released and the entirety of the 2017 season, which he missed after tearing his ACL during the preseason.
