Bears general manager Ryan Pace said this morning tight end Trey Burton is in question for the season opener because of a groin strain.
Burton did not practice Sunday and is considered day-to-day. Pace said it’s possible he’ll be a game-time decision Thursday night against the Packers.
Burton missed the Bears’ playoff game in January and needed surgery for what was ultimately diagnosed as a sports hernia. Pace said he fully recovered from that, and the new injury is a “mild” strain that occurred last week.
Bears coach Matt Nagy said repeatedly he believed Burton would be 100 percent by the opener despite being in and out of practice throughout August.
