The Bears continued to stay mum about whether they plan to give quarterback Mitch Trubisky a fifth-year option.
The team must decide whether to extend him a 2021 contract by May 4.
“Right now our focus is all on the draft,” general manager Ryan Pace said in a videoconference Tuesday. “We know we have until May 4 on that. We’ll cross that bridge once we get through this weekend.”
During every postseason media appearance, Pace has declined to say whether the team would extend Trubisky.
The Bears’ faith in Trubisky — or, rather, lack thereof — was evident when they traded a fourth-round pick and guaranteed quarterback Nick Foles $24 million.
