Bears general manager Ryan Pace had money to spend this offseason, but with no splashy free agent signings, he’s been piecing together his team through lower-profile, one-year deals. That continued on Thursday, with the addition of wide receiver Victor Cruz, who announced the move via Instagram. The Bears later confirmed it.
Cruz, 30, had been with the New York Giants since 2010, and was released in February. His most productive seasons came in 2011 and 2012, the latter of which saw him make the Pro Bowl with 10 touchdowns and 1,092 total yards.
But in the last two seasons, Cruz’s production took a dip, in large part because of setbacks from a knee injury.
