Bears sign Shaheen to four-year deal

The Bears on Friday signed second-round draft pick , a tight end from Division II Ashland University, to a four-year contract.

The Bears on Friday signed second-round draft pick Adam Shaheen to a four-year contract.

After playing sparingly at Ashland in 2014, the 6-6, 278-pounder caught 70 passes for 803 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015 and 57 passes for 867 yards and 16 TDs in 2016. The 16 touchdowns set the Division II single-season record for tight ends.

Shaheen was the tallest and heaviest tight end at the NFL Combine. He also tied for the most bench-press reps at his position with 24.
