The Chicago Bears now have a long snapper battle on their hands.
The team announced on Thursday that they have signed rookie Tanner Carew as a free agent. As a corresponding move, they have waived linebacker Andrew Trumbetti.
Carew, who attended college at Oregon, was seen by most analysts as the best long snapper in the 2018 NFL Draft. The top long snapper in the country coming out of high school, Carew impressed NFL scouts throughout his tenure with the Ducks as an incredibly accurate snapper who can consistently hit punters right in the hands with crisp and fast snaps.
