The Bears on Saturday re-signed unrestricted free-agent cornerback Johnthan Banks to a one-year contract.
The 27-year-old originally joined the Bears last Dec. 5 and played in two games, recording five tackles and one pass breakup.
Banks was selected by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2013 draft out of Mississippi State and spent three seasons in Tampa before being traded to the Lions last Nov. 1 in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick. He played two games with Detroit before he was released.
Banks has appeared in 54 NFL games with 39 starts, recording 137 tackles, seven interceptions, 17 pass breakups and two tackles-for-loss.
