Chicago’s offseason activities did not strongly resonate with voters in ESPN’s latest edition of the NFL Power Rankings.
In the first poll released since the opening of free agency, the Bears sit 24th -- just one spot ahead of NFC North division rival Detroit.
The Packers (sixth) and Vikings (10th) are both in the top 10.
An argument can be made the Bears improved their defense with the acquisitions of inside linebackers Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman and defensive lineman Akiem Hicks. The return of veteran cornerback Tracy Porter and tight end Zach Miller, coupled with the reported good health of 2015 first-round pick Kevin White, gives Bears fans plenty of reasons for optimism.
