Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will be among nine former collegiate athletes inducted into the Vanderbilt Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday night.
A former SEC Offensive Player of the Year, Cutler starred for the Commodores from 2002-05. Cutler left school as Vanderbilt’s all-time leader in passing yards (8,697), touchdowns (59), completions (710) and passing attempts (1,242).
A three-year captain, Cutler passed for 3,073 yards and 21 touchdowns in his senior season.
He became the first quarterback in Vanderbilt history to pass for at least 300 yards in four straight games.
Originally drafted by the Denver Broncos with the 11th pick in the 2006 NFL draft, Cutler arrived in Chicago in 2009, and is now the Bears’ career passing leader with 1,939 completions, 22,384 yards, 150 touchdowns and an 85.
