LANDOVER, Md. — At halftime, the Bears’ Caleb Williams is losing the battle of the draft’s top two quarterbacks, 9-0.
The Bears’ offense has been shut out, wasting a valiant effort from its defense in the red zone.
Williams completed only 3-of-8 passes for 33 yards and spent most of the first half running for his life. He ran six times for 29 yards and was sacked twice.
Williams made three mistakes that, even for a rookie, were inexcusable:
• On third-and-2 early in the second quarter, Williams scrambled and slid to the ground a yard short of the sticks.
