The Bears have their first coronavirus-related roster move.
Monday, the team put Artavis Pierce, a rookie running back from Oregon State, on the NFL’s new Reserve/COVID-19 list. The designation is intended for players who either tested positive for the virus or have been in close contact with someone who has.
Pierce was one of 18 players league-wide to be placed on the list Monday. Players on the list are removed when proven healthy.
The Bears began testing rookies last week. Veterans are testing this week, with Tuesday marking the official start of training camp.
The Bears signed Pierce as an undrafted free agent after he ran for 2,127 yards, 10th-most all-time, at Oregon State.
