Punter Tory Taylor was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday, three days after he pinned the Rams at the 8 twice and came within one pooch kick of setting a Bears record.
Taylor was averaging 60.5 yards per punt, which would have been a franchise record, before punting 35 yards to pin the Rams at the 8 with 1:03 to play and tailing by six. The Bears intercepted a pass on the next play.
Taylor averaged 55.4 yards per punt Sunday.
“There’s no secret recipe — it was really just everyone going out there and dominating for the 10 seconds that we’re on the field,” Taylor said after the game.
