The Bears have promoted quarterback Tyler Bray from the practice squad, the team announced. As a corresponding move, they released tight end Bradley Sowell.
Bray will serve as Chase Daniel’s backup as the Bears travel to London to take on the Raiders next week. The promotion comes in wake of Mitchell Trubisky’s separated shoulder that he suffered on Sunday against the Vikings.
The Bears applied a similar strategy when Trubisky was injured last season, as the team promoted Bray to the 53-man roster to back up Daniel while their starter was gone.
