BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Bears Pro Bowl right guard Kyle Long was spotted at the Olivet Nazarene University dining hall in a walking boot Thursday afternoon after he suffered a left calf injury near the end of the team’s first practice of training camp.
The injury is not believed to be serious, but Long’s timetable to return is unknown.
Long, named to three consecutive Pro Bowls, is back at right guard, next to veteran right tackle Bobby Massie, whom the Bears signed in free agency.
Entering his fourth year in the NFL, Long is the unquestioned leader of Chicago’s offseason, a group that underwent several changes in the offseason.
