Upgrading at tight end is a high priority for the Bears this offseason, and coach Matt Nagy took the first step toward addressing that issue by hiring longtime NFL assistant Clancy Barone as tight ends coach Thursday.
Barone has coached offensive line and tight ends in the league since breaking in with the Falcons in 2004. He coached tight ends for the Vikings in 2017 and had their offensive line in 2018 before spending this season out of the league.
Before landing in Minnesota, Barone coached those two position groups for the Broncos from 2009 through ‘16.
