Bears: Pernell McPhee fined for hit on Cardinals QB Carson Palmer

Bears linebacker Pernell McPhee was fined $17,363 for a low hit on Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer during Sunday's 48-23 loss at Soldier Field.

With the Bears trailing the Cardinals early in the third quarter, McPhee was flagged for roughing the passer on a low hit to the knee of Palmer. The Bears received a 15-yard penalty as a result of the play.

“Forcible contact to the knee area — this is a foul,” NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said earlier this week when referring to McPhee's hit on Palmer. “Whether it’s just above the knee or on the knee, we aren’t going to nitpick that.
