The story of the NFL can’t be told without either “Papa Bear” or Mike Ditka.
Friday night, the league put both men on their all-century team.
George S. Halas, who founded the Bears, led them to six championships and helped launch the league, was named one of the 10 coaches on the NFL 100 All-Time Team.
“Da Coach” made it, too — but as a player. Ditka was one of five tight ends named to the squad.
Dan Fortmann, a Bears guard from 1936-43, was named to the team, while fellow Pro Football Hall of Famer Clyde “Bulldog” Turner, who played center for the Bears from 1940-52, was a finalist but got left off.
